Tu Vuo Fa L’Americano

Thursday, we visited Pompeii, which meant another ride on the Circumvesuviana. We were not thrilled, to say the least. But, by some miracle, the Pompeii bound train was actually pretty nice, and a trio of musicians who hopped on at the next stop provided some lovely entertainment.

Erin was by far the best tour guide in all of Pompeii. Here she is at the beginning of our visit explaining the advanced column making techniques of the Pompeiians — fascinating stuff, really.

These folks knew how to live. With more than 30 brothels, 6 public baths, 130 bars and restaurants, 2 theaters, and one big amphitheater, it’s a shame Mt. Vesuvius had to spoil the party.

When we got back into Sorrento, it was almost dinner time. So, without further ado…

  1. Pompeii looks very interesting, and that tour guide takes after her father! Loved the extra enhancement of this blog with the video on the train. What a treat!
It’s Friday morning as I write, the wood stove has been going all night so it’s nice and toasty in the house. No snow, but chilly temps outdoors.
Enjoy the weekend… Can’t wait to see you both, and hear more wonderful tales.
    Love you,
